Coffee with the Mayor
Join us for Coffee with Mayor Douglas Richardson, a monthly business forum, the second Friday of each month at 7:30am at Saint Clare Hospital Resource Center. The forum is open to the public. Coffee with the Mayor is a great way to find out about the latest developments in Lakewood. Coffee with the Mayor is an informal forum that lasts about an hour. Coffee with the Mayor features a guest speaker and always includes time for questions and comments.
Council-Manager Government
The City of Lakewood is a code city with a Council-Manager form of government. The City Council consists of seven part-time, nonpartisan members elected at-large every two years to staggered, four-year terms. The Council elects one of its members as Mayor. The City Council is responsible for enacting all legislation and making general policy decisions governing the City. The Council appoints a full-time, professional City Manager to oversee the administrative functions of the City and to implement Council policy. The Council also appoints members of the City's advisory boards and committees.
