- Redevelopment of the Pacific Highway SW corridor is moving ahead! The LaQuinta Inn & Suites and Lakewood Ford have opened new facilities in the corridor and are enjoying the exposure to Interstate 5, and U.S. Highway 99 traffic to grow their business. The City has invested new infrastructure in the corridor, a savings in development costs for prospective investors.
- Construction is progressing on Pacific Highway SW Phase 3 including installation of the large storm drainage vault and infiltration gallery in front of the vacant properties just north of 108th Street.
- Lakewood has approximately 2.5 miles of I-5 frontage with the majority undergoing redevelopment to provide for both auto-oriented redevelopment as well as some transit oriented segments.
- Lakewood Sound Transit Station: The Lakewood Station opens as a bus park-and-ride to provide relief for existing park-and-rides in Lakewood that are at or over capacity. Sounder commuter rail service is planned to begin in 2011–2012 when a new segment of track in Tacoma, and upgrades to the existing freight tracks, will be completed.
- Lakewood has contracted with BCRA to do a Tillicum Community Plan.
- Lakewood has contracted with Huitt-Zollars for an industrial redevelopment master plan for the American Lake Gardens area.
- A 40,000 sq. ft. addition to the recently completed Wal-Mart store to add grocery sales.
- A 142,000 sq. ft. senior housing complex (Summit in Lakewood) near the intersection of Gravelly Lake Drive and Steilacoom Boulevard.
- A 13,000 sq. ft. medical office building (Lee Medical Building) in the 9000 block of South Tacoma Way.
- A 30,000 sq. ft. office complex (Flett Creek Plaza) on Bridgeport Way, north of Custer Road.
- A 52-unit townhouse project near the intersection of Gravelly Lake Drive and Steilacoom Boulevard.
- A 254-unit multi-family apartment project on the NE corner of Steilacoom Boulevard and Lakewood Drive.
- A 50,000 sq. ft. Health Services Building at Clover Park Technical College.
- An 80,000 sq. ft. Math /Sciences building at Pierce College.
- A 40,000 sq. ft. office building adjacent to Lakewood City Hall.
- An 18,500 sq. ft. retail commercial center on Pacific Highway, north of 108th Street.
- A 31,000 sq. ft. Retail/Services Center on 74th Street SW, just west of Lakewood Drive.
- A 10,000 sq. ft. commercial center on the SE corner of Steilacoom Boulevard and 87th Avenue SW.
