Elected to Office: January 2010

Councilmember Mary Moss was elected to serve on the Lakewood City Council in November 2009 serving in Position 1. Councilmember Moss is the council liaison to the Planning Advisory Board and the Redevelopment Advisory Board. Councilmember Moss is a native of Virginia, moved to Washington State as a military dependent. She is a graduate of Evergreen State College where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts. She received her Master’s Degree in Organization Leadership from Chapman University.

Councilmember Moss earned recognition for her career as Community Development Consultant for Harborstone Credit Union, where she recently retired after 33 years. She received the Pierce County Chapter of Credit Union Lifetime Achievement Award; was chosen as a Woman of Influence by the Business Examiner; and was appointed and commissioned as a member of the Board of Trustees for Clover Park Technical College District #29 by Governor Christine Gregoire.

Councilmember Moss is a member of the Lakewood Rotary Club; Secretary and Vice President for State Air Force Association; Vice President for Association of the U.S. Army (Lakewood Chapter); Board Member for Saint Clare’s Women’s Advisory Council; Board Member for the Lakewood Playhouse; Board Member for Communities in Schools of Lakewood; member of the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce (Chair for the Military Affairs Committee); and past Treasurer for the Pacific Northwest National Security Forum.

She is the proud mother of three adult children; two sons and a daughter who have blessed her with 11 grandchildren.
