The City Manager's Office of the City of Lakewood administers and directs all city personnel to attain the policy goals of the City of Lakewood as adopted by the City Council. The primary objective of the City Manager's Office is to manage the overall operations of the City, while ensuring quality service and serving the needs of the public through the expressed direction of the Lakewood City Council.
The City of Lakewood is a code city with a Council-Manager form of government. The City Council appoints a full-time, professional City Manager to oversee the administrative functions of the City and to implement Council policy.
Meet the City Manager

Andrew Neiditz was appointed as Lakewood's City Manager in March 2005. Prior to that, he
was the City Administrator of Sumner from 1999 to 2005. He also served as Lakewood's
Deputy City Manager from 1996 to 1999; and in Pierce County, he was Executive Director of
Public Safety from 1993 to 1996 and Deputy County Executive from 1985 to 1993.
He has a Master's degree in Public Administration from the University of Oregon, and a
bachelor's degree from Stockton State College. He also has undergraduate credits from the
University of Pittsburgh and the City University of New York and completed the Senior
Executive Program in State/Local Government at the Kennedy School of Government at
Harvard University.
Andrew is currently a boardmember of the Tacoma-Pierce County Economic Development
Board. He is a member of the Lakewood Rotary Club, and was previously president of the
Rotary Club of Sumner, as well as a member of Tacoma Rotary #8 for 10 years. He's been a
member of the Metro YMCA Board, Tacoma Urban League Board, the Point Defiance Zoo
Board, and the Safe Streets Campaign Board of Directors, which he chaired for over four
years. He was president of the Washington City/County Management Association in 2007-08,
and is currently the West Coast Regional Vice-President for ICMA (International City
Management Association) for 2010–13.
Andrew was born in New York, and has lived in the Puget Sound area since 1978. Together
with his wife, Marie, an elementary school teacher, they have a daughter and a son.
Executive Assistant
The Executive Assistant, Deanne Wegmann, takes on a variety of roles providing support for both the City Manager and City Council.
Correspondence for the City Manager, Mayor and Council, including electronic mail and verbal communication, is handled through the Executive Assistant. The Executive Assistant's key role is to provide customer service by ensuring accurate and timely dissemination of information in the daily communication between the City Manager, Council and citizens of Lakewood.
