Communications and Government Relations

Lakewood’s Director of Communications serves as the City's spokesperson and main point of contact for the news media. He ensures Lakewood stays connected to its citizens by publishing "Lakewood Connections" six times a year, submits news releases as necessary to inform citizens about key events in the City and maintains manages electronic media including a city website and Facebook page

In directing government relations, he assists the City Manager in coordinating programs and projects that impact a variety of departments and program areas, maintains productive working relationships with other governments (state, local, and federal), and ensures the City's legislative priorities are understood by elected State representatives.

The Communications and Government Relations staff works to generate increased understanding throughout the community of the programs and priorities of the City Council and City administration. The Department provides regular newsletters and publications to help keep citizens informed about and involved in the latest developments in our community. Additionally, the Department works to increase cooperation between Lakewood, other local jurisdictions and the State to insure Lakewood's priorities are well represented.

Lakewood Connections

Lakewood Connections is the City of Lakewood's newsletter. It is published in January, March, May, July, September, and November. A copy is mailed to each residence and business in Lakewood and is posted on the City's website as a PDF file.

Lakewood's Website

The Communications Director, in partnership with the Network Information Systems Division, is responsible for the upkeep of the City's website. The City is currently in the process of updating its website to give it a more attractive and user-friendly appeal.
