Like other cities, Lakewood collects an admission tax on activities like movie and play tickets, entrance fees and cover charges to clubs. See Lakewood Ordinance #167 and Chapter 3.44 of the Lakewood Municipal Code for details.
The rate of the admission tax is one cent on twenty cents (5%). The tax is due to the City of Lakewood from the person or organization collecting the admission fee by the 15th of month following the 'reporting period' in which the activity occurred. The reporting periods are two month blocks. Thus, if you collect admissions in January or February, you need to make a payment of 5% of the amount you collected to the City of Lakewood by March 15th. The tax for March or April is due by May 15, and for May and June by July 15th. Late payments are charged 1% interest per month.
