Caring for their own by funding HEALTH

In 2011, the City of Lakewood invested $63,800 (51% of the requests received) in ensuring Lakewood’s citizens have access to programs that improve the quality of life through basic healthcare. Covering a diverse range of opportunities in healthcare, the City partnered with the following programs:

Community Healthcare – Lakewood and Tillicum Clinics

Community Health Care is a private, non-profit organization created in 1987. The total history of the clinic system dates to 1969 when local physicians and concerned citizens, recognizing the problems of access to quality health care for the county's low-income and uninsured residents, established two volunteer clinics to help fill that void. ABCD helps citizens in Lakewood find a child-friendly Dentist or Specialist who will accept the Provider One ID Card. All ABCD Dentists have been trained to work with very young children. ABCD Provides Family Oral Health Education on how to take care of your child's teeth and prevent cavities. Additionally, ABCD encourages families to seek early dental care for young children beginning at age 1 or first tooth eruption. ABCD promotes a positive dental experience and makes going to the Dentist easier for your child. ABC Dentistry

Pierce County AIDS – Case Management Program

Offers a link between persons with HIV or AIDS and resources. Specialized case management for women, children and families. PCAF

Franciscan Children’s Immunization

The Child Immunization Program provides free immunizations throughout Pierce and South King County for children 2 months to 18 years old who don't have a regular health care provider or health care coverage.
