Good Jobs and Great People!
2012 marks the 10-year anniversary for this top ten Puget Sound area printer. This growing manufacturer has a lot to celebrate with 81+ employees, a brand new $1.5 Million printing press, and a solid track record. They are one of only two privately owned firms in the state to have two of these large format presses.
The company was formed in 2002 when the founding members purchased Valley Press in Puyallup. Running out of space just two years later, in 2004 they moved to the 512 Business Park here in Lakewood and shortly after decided to purchase their 40,000 square foot space in 2006. While hundreds of people were being laid off in the industry, Print NW was hiring. “We have good jobs and great people,” said Partner Jeff Stallings. He also said, “We’ve achieved longevity through creativity, partnerships, reliability and our ability to evolve and listen to our customers.”
The evolution has included adding wide format, short run digital printing (110 sheets per minute), and increasing indoor and point of purchase (POP) signage. They don’t know what’s next, perhaps retail packing? The customers will only tell. Demand for offset printing is still high at 55-60% of their revenue. The company offers vehicle wraps, posters, banners, window graphics, direct mail services, and a full array of professional corporate printed materials.
The Print NW client base runs from Everett to Chehalis, about 10-15% out-of-state, and globally to Canada, Australia, and many more international countries. They are now fully automated for scheduling and have a desire to grow. The new press has the potential to increase this $13 Million business by $4 Million and add jobs.
The challenge today is that companies have more choices in how they spend their marketing dollars. There are new types of media with less concentration on print. Print NW is optimistic about the economy, their ability to change, and make decisions quickly to meet these challenges.
