Councilmember Marie Barth is among the newest members of the Lakewood City Council. Shortly after her birth in New Jersey, her father was transferred to Madigan Army Hospital at Fort Lewis. Her family moved to Lakewood in 1953. She attended Aquinas Academy and received her associate’s degree from Pierce College.

Councilmember Barth is a Realtor ®, broker and vice president of community development for ALLEN Realtors®. She and her husband have owned Designated Escrow in Lakewood for over 25 years. She has received numerous awards over the years, including Tacoma-Pierce County Association of REALTORS® Affiliate of the Year in 1996 and 2008, Women’s Council of REALTORS® Entrepreneur of the Year in 2009, and Washington State School Board Community Service Award in 2010.

Councilmember Barth currently serves on several boards and committees including the State Chapter of Women’s Council of REALTORS® (president-elect) and the Tacoma-Pierce County Association of REALTORS® (director and executive committee). She is also a member of Clover Park Rotary. She previously served as a board member for the Tacoma Executives Association, Go Local Tacoma, and St. Frances Cabrini’s 21st Century Fund as well as the Lakewood Arts Commission. She also helped to lead the Clover Park School District’s 2010 bond issue.

Councilmember Barth serves as the council liaison to the Community Development Block Grant Citizens Advisory Board, the Public Safety Advisory Committee, and the Youth Council.

She and her husband, Bruce, have been married for over 40 years. They have one son and three granddaughters.
