The City of Lakewood is a code city organized as a Council-Manager form of government. This system of local government combines the strong political leadership of elected officials in the form of a governing body (the City Council), with the strong managerial experience of an appointed local government manager (the City Manager).
What does a City Manager do?
The City Manager implements the policies and goals of the City Council, manages and coordinates the overall operations of the City and provides leadership, coordination and development of City departments, while ensuring the delivery of quality service and serving the needs of the public. This is accomplished through the expressed direction of the Lakewood City Council. The City Manager's Office helps resolve issues by promoting communication among the City Council, citizens and employees.
