How to Become a City Volunteer

The City of Lakewood counts on their dedicated volunteers to provide time and services to help meet the diverse needs of the community. “Every Volunteer Makes a Difference!”

We have a variety of volunteer opportunities:

  • Administrative Volunteers (clerical work, counter reception, Police Department and Parks and Recreation Department)
  • Internships

Department-Specific Volunteer Opportunities

  • Advisory Boards (Legal and City Clerk )

    Our advisory boards are run by volunteers with administrative support by city staff. Eleven of our fourteen advisory boards report to the City Council.

    Adopt-A-Street Program (Maintenance )

  • Adopt-a-street programs are city-wide litter control and maintenance programs staffed by volunteer organizations. Volunteers contribute to a cleaner environment and a more attractive city by adopting sites or streets, removing litter and maintaining each site.

  • Fort Steilacoom Dog Park Volunteer (Parks and Recreation )

    • The Fort Steilacoom Dog Park has 22 acres of fenced off-leash open space area. volunteer to be a dog park monitor today!
