City Celebrates Outgoing Raider Brigade

On Feb. 21, the City of Lakewood celebrated its longstanding relationship with 4th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division , its Community Connector to Joint Base Lewis-McChord .

The event was a held at Thornewood Castle, where owners Deanna and Wayne Robinson have been longtime supporters of the Raider Brigade. It has been the site of several celebrations in honor of 4-2's return from deployment. Col. Jody Miller and wife Stacy honored Deanna with a special painting.

This month, the Raider Brigade is scheduled to deactivate, and JBLM will assign the City of Lakewood a new connector brigade. Still, the relationship with 4-2 is one that Lakewood will always remember.

The community continuously showed an outpouring support for the soldiers, which they said they always appreciated. When the Raider Brigade lost a soldier, we mourned as a community. And when they came home this year, we celebrated by throwing one of the largest parades the community has ever seen.

"It has been an honor," Mayor Don Anderson told the 50 or so people who attended.
