OWNERS OF LAKEWOOD PAVILION TO BEGIN WORK ON MAJOR LANDSCAPE RENOVATION

Improvements being made to improve visibility of current and future retailers

LAKEWOOD, Wash. (October 6, 2011) — Customers of Lakewood Pavilion will soon witness a flurry of landscaping activity at the popular shopping center, which has been a fixture in the community since the first phase was completed more than 14 years ago. Since that time, much of the landscaping has become overgrown making it difficult to see the stores from the street.

“Residents and visitors have complained that they can’t find stores located at the shopping center because they are blocked by the overgrown shrubbery and trees,” said City of Lakewood Economic Development Manager Ellie Chambers-Grady. “We are so pleased that the owners are investing the time and money to make exterior improvements that will benefit the current retailers and their customers as well as make the shopping center more attractive to future tenants.”
Lakewood Pavilion is located just north of Lakewood Towne Center in the heart of the city and is home to such anchor tenants as Rite Aid, Big 5 Sporting Goods and Petco, as well as a myriad of smaller retailers and service providers; all-in-all a total of 20 businesses.

Included in the landscape renovations and upgrades will be: the removal of old overcrowded trees, which will be replaced by smaller trees; removal of a large hedge which borders part of the property; and the addition of new ornamental plants and grass. The work will take place over the course of three to four weeks and is slated for completion by the end of October 2011.

Lakewood Pavilion is owned by Wig Properties LLC – LKPV and is located at 5700 100th Street Southwest in Lakewood.
