Spring into action to keep Lakewood clean and beautiful. Join your fellow citizens on Saturday May 19, 2012 at Lakewood’s Community Clean-up Day from 10:00am to noon. Families, neighborhood and community groups are encouraged to participate. Register outside City Hall beginning at 9:00am then proceed to your chosen area. City of Lakewood Supports the Fight Against Cancer

The City of Lakewood is proud to participate in this year’s American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life beginning June 1, 2012 at Clover Park High School. City officials and staff will take turns running/walking around track for 24 hours. There will be food, games and activities providing entertainment and fundraising for the American Cancer Society. In addition to all loved ones individual members are walking on behalf of, the City’s team is walking to remember Emmett Moore, Housing Repair Coordinator, who lost his battle to cancer in November 2011. Café Banana Fundrasier for 'Walk a Mile in Her Shoes'

Café Banana week for the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event fundraiser is Sunday, April 8th through Thursday, April 12th. 20% of all gross sales for that period of time will go to Rebuilding Hope Sexual Assault Center of Pierce County.

Lakewood City Council Recognizes Student Athletes

At the March 5, 2012 Council Meeting, the Lakewood City Council honored the outstanding athletic performance of four Clover Park School District students. Zach Banner, who was named first team All American offensive lineman in football; Izaic Yorks who was ranked 5th in the nation in cross country by ESPN; Cedric Dozier named honorable mention All American all-purpose athlete in football; and Kiaya Van Scoyoc for being the 2012 State Girls Wrestling Champion in the 155 pound division—a first girls’ state wrestling title at Lakes High School and in Clover Park School District.
