Lakewood Businesses Voted Among "Best of the South Sound"

Four Lakewood Amenities Honored by South Sound Magazine

Three Lakewood businesses and the Fort Steilacoom Dog Park were voted Best of the South Sound by South Sound magazine’s readers. The magazine has been surveying its readers for four years.

With many locations throughout the South Sound, Harborstone Credit Union was recognized as the top credit union. It is affectionately called the “Unbank” and the credit union serves as a resource for both personal and business financing needs. The branch in Lakewood is located at 6019 Lake Grove St.

Infusion Interior Design was honored for its showroom and design team. Located at 7513 Custer Rd W. in Lakewood, Infusion offers a wide variety of design services including, space planning, color selection, window treatments, furniture specification and selection, floor and wall finishes, project coordinating, furniture and accessory buying and room re-design.

Amber Marie Thiessen of Chambers Creek Veterinary Hospital was voted the best veterinarian. Thiessen is a graduate of Washington State University’s Veterinarian Medicine program and has been practicing at Chambers Creek since 1999. The pet hospital is located at 7210 Bridgeport Way W. in Lakewood.

Fort Steilacoom Dog Park was voted “Best Pet Park” for the third year in a row. The 22 acre fenced park is located at 8714 87th Ave S.W. in Lakewood. The off leash area caters to all dogs and features a separate area for smaller dogs.

“Lakewood has incredible businesses and lifestyle amenities,” said Ellie Chambers-Grady, economic development manager for the City of Lakewood, “We’re thrilled that others notice this as well.”

Located next door to Lakewood, Chambers Bay Golf Course, the site of the 2015 U.S. Open was acknowledged as the South Sound’s best golf course. As a Scottish-links style course with Puget Sound views, Chambers Bay is considered a top course in Washington and one of the top places to play on the West Coast. Chambers Bay is one of just two West Coast courses that will host a U.S. Open in the coming years.
