WildSide Pets Relocates for New Beginning with Local Lakewood Community

WildSide Pets, a full-service pet store, recently relocated from Puyallup to the City of Lakewood, bringing exotic animals and specialty services.

In 2004, Cindy Taylor took her 40 years of passion and love for animals to open WildSide Pets with her daughter, Cari Aida. WildSide Pets is a 100 percent women-owned business and has been family-owned and operated for nearly ten years.

Earlier this year, Taylor and Aida moved the business into the heart of Lakewood where they provide a selection of exotic animals as well as various supplies and services. The new location was selected based on its proximity to the military community, visibility and the building’s character.

“My mom and I have always had a passion for working with animals and we are very fortunate to have this business together,” says co-owner Aida. “We are excited to grow our presence in Lakewood and we look forward to continuing to share our animal knowledge, pets, education and services with the community.”

WildSide Pets is USDA licensed to carry and sell an array of exotic animals such as sugar gliders, squirrels, hedgehogs, prairie dogs as well as common domestic pets such as puppies, kittens, reptiles and fish. WildSide Pets receives praise for its high industry standards in cleanliness, customer outreach, and most importantly, the responsible and appropriate care of animals. For example, WildSide offers free aquarium water analysis and habitat design to ensure quality care. Products carried at the store are holistic and natural with many organic options.

WildSide is engaged with the community through educational services and discounts including a military discount on dry goods. The store offers a free classroom pet program that allows teachers to borrow pets and receive supplies at a discounted price for their class animals.

“Lakewood welcomes unique businesses such as WildSide Pets,” said Ellie Chambers-Grady, economic development manager for the City of Lakewood. “WildSide is the only store of its type in the state making it a regional destination for its distinctive inventory and staff expertise.”
