Lakewood Mayor Part of 62nd Airlift Wing Fly-Away Tour

This year’s tour stopped by the 62nd AFE shop to learn about parachutes, night vision goggles and water survival prior to heading to Travis Air Force Base, Calif On March 28, Mayor Don Anderson was one of 24 civic leaders who were invited to participate in the McChord Civic Leaders Fly-away tour, courtesy of 62nd Airlift Wing Commander Col. David Kumashiro.

As part of the 62nd Airlift Wing's tour, the Mayor and other civic leaders got to fly with a C-17 crew to Travis Air Force Base in Northern California for the day. Along the way, they learned about the airlift wing and got an up-close look at how it conducts its mission.
