Check out this event Tuesday at Lakewold Gardens :
It was 25 years ago that Mrs. Eulalie Wagner donated the 10-acre estate to the nonprofit organization, the Friends of Lakewold. Over the last 11 years, under the leadership of Executive Director Stephanie Walsh, the historic site has become known as one of the Top 10 gardens in the United States.
At 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 20, guests may tour the new Don and Mary Williams Asian-inspired Garden Room and walk the driveway, admiring some of the 900 varieties of rhodies in full bloom. Guests may also preview an Art Show by the Rainier League of Arts. At 7 p.m., the estate home will host a program with the participation of descendants from all three former property owners-the Alexanders, Griggs and Wagners. Stephanie Walsh, the Executive Director, will share the future plans for Lakewold that will continue to enhance this historic property. Visit Lakewold Gardens’ website for more information, www.lakewoldgardens.org. The tour and program are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
