West Pierce, Police Help Save Dog's Life

The following is a news release from West Pierce Fire & Resuce regarding a fire at a Lakewood home Friday in which the fire department and the Lakewood Police Department helped save a dog's life:

At approximately 9:40 p.m. on Friday, June 20, West Pierce Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a fire at 5703 110th Street SW in Lakewood. Crews arrived to find a working fire at the home.

Crews entered the home looking for any occupants and found a large dog during their search. They performed CPR and gave the dog oxygen, which revived the dog. Lakewood Police transported the dog to the local animal hospital to recover. The occupants of the home were outside upon fire department arrival and no other injuries were reported.

The fire was extinguished after using the ladder truck’s water supply. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
