Assistant Police Chief on ‘Washington’s Most Wanted’
This week, Lakewood residents might see a familiar face on the show, "Washington's Most Wanted."
Mike Zaro, Assistant Police Chief of the Lakewood Police Department, recently conducted an interview regarding a 2012 drug-related homicide at an apartment complex on San Francisco Avenue Southwest. Authorities already have six people in custody (including the alleged shooter), but one person remains on the run.
"Our investigators have done a great job on this case," Zaro said. "Hopefully, with the public's help, we will be able to locate this final person."
"Washington’s Most Wanted" will air this Friday at 9:30 p.m., on Joe TV and 10:30 p.m., on Q13 FOX.
Almost 200 ‘Do The Waughop’
Almost 200 partners purchased tickets to attend the Partners for Parks event, "Do The Waughop," on Saturday, July 26 at Fort Steilacoom Park .
The purpose of the evening was to raise funds to improve the trail around Waughop Lake. Guests were able to enjoy a delicious dinner catered by Carrs Restaurant, a poker walk, dancing to music by the YMCA band and a horse-drawn hayride around Waughop Lake.
Thanks to all the partners who helped make this event such a big success!
Lakewood Asian Film Fest
The Lakewood Asian Film Fest continues on Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3. Saturday's film is the spellbinding Chinese classic "To Live". The Chang Hee Suk drummers start things off at 7 p.m. and “To Live” is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Sunday's pre-show features the Okinawa Taiko Drummer starting at 2 p.m. The moving Japanese - American Internment documentary "All We Could Carry" shows at 2:30 p.m. and the "Best Foreign Film" award winner from Korea titled "The Front Line" shows at 3 p.m.

Mayor Gives Coin to France Rangers Museum
The City of Lakewood's appreciation for members and families of the military is known throughout the region.
But it's also understood an ocean away. Check out this picture from Mayor Don Anderson to see what we mean.
While overseas, the Mayor got the opportunity to present an official Lakewood coin to the staff at Musee des Rangers (the Ranger Musem) in Normandy, France.
The museum commemorates the heroism of the 2nd Ranger Battalion at Pointe du Hoc on D-Day.
Lakewood ‘Neighborhoods’ Segment on YouTube
The City of Lakewood's recent segement on "Comcast Neighborhoods" is online!
The show, hosted by TV personality Sabrina Register, has been available on Comcast customers' On-Demand service for months. Now, the segment is on YouTube.

Next Tuesday, August 5 is National Night Out! There's still time to organize your neighborhood party and get it registered with the City. The City Council will be holding a regular meeting on Monday, August 4, beginning at 7:00 p.m., in the City Hall Council Chambers located at 6000 Main Street SW. Agenda items for the meeting include:

- Adopt subdivision code amendments
- Adopt Shoreline Master Plan
- Adopt boarding houses regulations
- Approve WSDOT agreement for right-of-entry and construction management for Madigan Access Phase 2
- Approving a Lakewood Water District ILA relative to constructing water mains along Bridgeport Way from 83rd St. SW to 75th St. W
