  • City Staff and Lakewood Area Shelter Association conduct Homelessness count: City staff from the Parks, Recreation and Community Services and CSRT partnered with Lakewood Area Shelter Association (LASA) to perform the one-night count of homelessness on Thursday, January 27th. Local teams surveyed patrons at 10 motels along South Tacoma Way and Pacific Highway. • Police Chief Recognition: Chief Bret Farrar was honored this week with the award of Law Enforcement Administrator of the Year by the Washington Council of Police and Sheriffs (WACOPS). The formal presentation will be made in Olympia on February 2. The recognition is in acknowledgment of Chief Farrar's leadership with officers and families during the difficult time following the murder of our four Lakewood officers 14 months ago.
  • First Annual Fun Run for the Tina Griswold Memorial Scholarship: 640 people have registered to participate in the First Annual Run for Tina this Saturday January 29th at Ft. Steilacoom Park. We've raised more than $20,000 for the Tina Delong Griswold Memorial Scholarship which will help kids pursuing Law Enforcement Careers go to college. Those who have not registered can still participate by coming to the Park at 8:00am on Saturday with a completed form and $30.00 in cash. (T-shirts are on a first come, first serve basis on-site.)
