The Lakewood Police Department’s Patrol Response Units are comprised of uniformed officers in fully marked Lakewood Police Department patrol vehicles, who are on duty 24/7. Officers in the patrol response units respond to 911 emergency calls. They also respond to many other various calls for service or investigations of a non-emergency nature, such as crimes no longer in progress and calls of suspicious persons or activity. The unit also patrols the City of Lakewood pro-actively, enforcing traffic and criminal laws. Officers in the Patrol Response Units coordinate with other units within the department to support and develop solutions to community concerns and problems. By keeping our roadways, lakes and parks safe, working closely with residents of six defined police districts to address chronic neighborhood problems, combating the thefts that finance other crimes and rescuing injured or abandoned animals, the members of the Patrol Response Units personify the LPD motto: "Making a Difference."
Below are some examples of calls that patrol officers respond to;
- Domestic Violence
- Suspicious Persons
- Missing Persons
- Vehicle theft
- Assault/Sexual Assault
- Neighborhood Watch Communities
- Community Outreach Events
- Identity Theft
- Death Investigations
The K9 Units skills and abilities are also a considerable asset to the Patrol Response Unit.
