On Saturday, July 18 2015, Anthony (Tony) Charles Bowers (54-year-old male) was visiting the Lakewood/Tacoma area.  At 3 p.m., Tony went to the Lakewood Walmart (7001 Bridgeport Way W) to buy some food for the reunion being held at Manitou Park (4330 S 66th St) in Tacoma. Sometime between leaving Walmart (between 4:50 p.m. and 5 p.m.) and returning to the park, investigators believe Tony may have received a serious head injury.

At some point, Tony did tell his family that he was assaulted by four unknown males. Tony Bowers then drove home to Oregon where he was exhibiting concussion-like symptoms. A few days later, Tony went to the hospital, where he later died from his injury.

The Lakewood Police Department is seeking information on any report of an assault somewhere between Walmart and Manitou Park. The distance is approximately 1.8 miles. Tony was driving a 1996 teal colored, convertible BMW 328 with Oregon License 9Q8881.

If you have any information on this incident, please contact Lakewood Police Major Crimes Detective Rey Punzalan at (253) 830-5000.
