The Lakewood Police Department is appreciates the hard work our volunteers do for us. At this time, we are not accepting applications, but hope to soon. The volunteer application process begins here  .

Examples of what some of our volunteers do are:

Disabled Parking Enforcement Take part in protecting disabled parking for those who really need it.

Speed/Radar Enforcement

It’s all about keeping our children safe. You can help ensure that drivers are doing the speed limit in Lakewood’s school zones.

Clerical/Office Support

Each unit within the Police Department has individual needs regarding clerical support, providing multiple opportunities to anyone interested. Because there are so many units within the department, this is an excellent opportunity to learn a variety of new skills and gain a better understanding of how the Police Department works.

Because of the sensitive nature of our work, all potential volunteers must pass a preliminary criminal history check prior to serving. For the most sensitive positions, passing an intense background investigation, to include a polygraph (lie detector) test, may be required prior to beginning your volunteer service. Your consent is required prior to any action on our part, and no background investigation will be done on you without your consent.
